MOSCOW, December 28. /TASS/. Russia appreciates Jordan’s role in stabilizing the situation in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi on Friday.

"Today we agreed to discuss in detail the situation in the Middle East region with an emphasis on the Syrian settlement, and we appreciate Jordan’s role in it very much, and, of course, look at what is happening in the Palestinian-Israeli issue," he said.

Lavrov stressed that "exchange of views and assessments, including those based on trust, is very important" for the development of Russian-Jordanian cooperation.

"We hope that today’s meeting will be an important contribution to this cooperation," the minister noted.
