ROME, December 2. /TASS/. Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella will visit Russia in spring 2017, Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said following his talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
"We have been maintaining very close contacts at all levels," the Italian top diplomat said. "In June, our Prime Minister (Matteo Renzi) visited St. Petersburg while President Mattarella will pay an official visit to Russian in the spring of 2017."
Paolo Gentiloni added that Italy and Russia had been developing successful cultural cooperation as well as economic ties. "A meeting of the Italian-Russian Council for Economic Cooperation has been held just recently," the Italian foreign minister pointed out.
