Poll shows over 80% of Russians plan to vote in presidential election

Meanwhile, 13% of respondents do not plan to vote, with 9% being completely sure of that

MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/. The vast majority of Russians (90%) know when the country’s presidential election is set to take place and 83% plan to take part in it, according to a poll conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation.

The poll involving 1,500 adult Russians was carried out on March 1-3.

"Asked when the Russian presidential election will take place, 90% of those surveyed answered correctly (a three percentage point rise from February 25). As many as 83% said they planned to take part in the vote (a one percentage point drop)," the pollster said in a statement.

A total of 61% of polled active voters said they would definitely vote in the election; 13% were most likely to vote and ten percent said they were likely to take part in the election. Meanwhile, 13% of respondents do not plan to vote, with 9% being completely sure of that.

As many as 72% of those planning to vote are ready to cast their ballots in favor of self-nominated candidate Vladimir Putin (a one percentage point rise), 2% are inclined to support Vladislav Davankov, nominated by the New People party (unchanged), 3% plan to support Leonid Slutsky, nominated by the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (a one percentage point growth), and another 2% said they would vote for Nikolay Kharitonov, nominated by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (a one percentage point fall).
