Terrorism considered motive behind Toronto van attack - Reuters

According to the source, there is no reason to believe that the incident was an accident

MOSCOW, April 24. /TASS/. Investigators considers terrorism as the most likely motive behind a van attack in Toronto that killed nine people on Monday, Reuters reported citing a US security source said.

According to the source, there is no reason to believe that the incident was an accident.

Earlier a van struck pedestrians on Monday local time in the Yonge Street and Finch Avenue area of North York in Toronto, killing nine people and injuring another sixteen. Police confirmed that the van has been located and the driver is in custody.

Canada’s minister of public safety said it is too early to say whether the crash of a van into pedestrians was a case of international terrorism. Canada has not yet changed its terrorism alert level and so far, there is no information that would suggest a need to do so.

According to Russian embassy in Ottawa, Russian citizens were not hurt in the incident.
