Oliver Stone to make documentary about Ukraine's ousted president Yanukovych

The famed director says it seems clear to him foreign elements were, including the CIA, were involved in the February ousting of Ukraine's legitimate president

LOS ANGELES, December 31. /TASS/. Hollywood film director Oliver Stone will make a documentary film about Ukraine's ousted president Viktor Yanukovych to tell the public the truth about the events at Maidan (Independence square in downtown Kiev), as follows from a post on the director's Facebook page.

Stone says he interviewed Viktor Yanukovych in Moscow for a new English language documentary produced by Ukrainians.

According to him, the events in Kiev were similar to other CIA-orchestrated coups against unwanted leaders, for example, Chilean President Salvador Allende in 1973.

The filmmaker said many witnesses, including Yanukovych, believe the CIA had its "fingerprints" on the February coup.

"The truth is not being aired in the West," he warned. "It’s a surreal perversion of history that’s going on once again, as in Bush pre-Iraq ‘WMD’ campaign."

"But I believe the truth will finally come out in the West, I hope, in time to stop further insanity," he added.

Stone, who made three documentaries on Cuban leader Fidel Castro, is currently working on a film about NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden living in Russia.
