YEKATERINBURG, August 15. /TASS/. Uralmashzavod will produce equipment for the third and the fourth power units of Kudankulam nuclear power plant (NPP) in India, the Russian mechanical engineering company said on Monday.
"Uralmashzavod will design and fabricate equipment in cooperation with NPO VNIIPTMASH for new power units of the Indian NPP: two new generation refueling machines and four staff airlocks - airtight entrance systems of reactor areas. Packages of primary and emergency airlocks will be produced for the third and the fourth units of Kudankulam NPP," the Russian company said.
Uralmashzavod has already supplied two refueling machines, two circular operation cranes and two ramp cranes for the Indian NPP.
Kudankulam NPP is the largest element of the Indian power grid. Each of its reactors has the capacity of 1,000 MW. The framework agreement on construction of the third stage of Kudankulam NPP is expected to be signed by the year-end, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on August 10.
