MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. Defense contractors delivered 16 Sukhoi Su-34 fighter-bombers to Russia’s Defense Ministry in 2016, with six of them currently accomplishing missions in Syria, Commander of the 277th Bomber Regiment Alexander Gorin said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV Channel on Friday.
"In 2016, 16 Su-34 planes were put into service. All the aircraft delivered to the regiment are performing flights as per the combat training plan," the commander said on the single military output acceptance day.
"Besides, six planes have been accomplishing assignments in the Syrian Arab Republic since February 2017. There are no critical remarks about the quality of the aircraft that have been delivered," he said.
The Su-34 fighter-bomber is designed to attack ground and naval targets. It can destroy moving small targets and aerial objectives both in the daytime and at night in all weather conditions.
