KHABAROVSK, December 15. /TASS/. A squadron of the newest Sukhoi Su-34 fighter bombers has been set up in the air regiment of Russia’s Eastern Military District deployed to the Khabarovsk region, head of the district press service, Colonel Alexander Gordeyev, said on Thursday.
"This year, the newest Sukhoi Su-34 fighter bombers, received by the Eastern Military District, formed a new squadron. The last shipment of the aircraft is being received at the production plant in Novosibirsk," Gordeyev said.
He added that the new aircraft would be deployed to their base airfield in the Far East before the end of the year.
According to Gordeyev, the Sukhoi Su-34 fighters’ crews had fulfilled all bombing-related tactical tasks at one of the district’s gunnery ranges. During training flights, pilots exercised air navigation and planned track flight skills, they also carried out horizontal bombing tasks at group targets.
The Sukhoi Su-34 is a fourth-generation multi-role fighter bomber designed to hit ground targets as well as naval ones. It is capable of engaging even small mobile targets and aerial targets in daytime and at night, under favorable and adverse weather conditions. It is also able to detect and eliminate the enemy’s armored vehicles as well as manpower.
