Kalashnikov gunmaker launches production of BK-16 boat’s diving and patrol versions

Then boats are designed for operations in coastal areas, the estuaries of rivers and lakes, and also for transporting personnel and landing marines onto the rough terrain

MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. The Rybinsk Shipyard (part of the Kalashnikov Group) has launched the production of the diving and patrol versions of the BK-16 amphibious assault boat intended for operations in green-water areas, the Kalashnikov media reported on Monday.

"The Rybinsk Shipyard, which makes part of the Kalashnikov Group, has started the construction of new patrol and diving modifications of the BK-16 boat. Currently, the order book includes 30 vessels, taking into account the boats both built and contracted," the Kalashnikov media said in a statement.

BK-16 boats are designed for operations in coastal areas, the estuaries of rivers and lakes, and also for transporting personnel and landing marines onto the rough terrain, providing fire support, fighting terrorism and piracy.

The BK-16 transportation and amphibious assault boat can be armed with four 7.62mm machine-guns combined with the combat module, two 12.7 mm machine-guns or a 40mm grenade launcher. The boat can develop a maximum speed of 42 knots and has a crew of two. It can accommodate the 19-strong assault force.

Depending on the customer’s requirements, the Kalashnikov Group is ready to continue its work on various versions of the boat tailored for specific tasks.
