PARIS, February 27. /TASS/. The French delegation to PACE supports the reinstatement of Russia’s powers in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a French senator and a PACE member told TASS on Monday.
"Back then I voted against Russia’s expulsion from the activity of PACE, although members of the French delegation took different stances on the issue at that time," said Ives Pozzo di Borgo.
"However today, and this is good news to me, all French delegates unanimously speak in favor of Russia’s return," he added.
Earlier in the day, the head of the Russian upper house’s international affairs committee, Konstantin Ksachev said "Our French colleagues spoke very resolutely and jointly against the practice of imposing sanctions against parliamentarians, and said the French delegation will be ready to back the return of the Russian Federal Assembly’s delegation to PACE," Kosachev was speaking after a meeting with a French Senate’s commission.
