MAKHACHKALA, September 7. /TASS/. The number of militants that have been liquidated in Dagestan has increased to six, a source in the republic’s law enforcement agencies told TASS on Wednesday.
"During a special operation in the town of Izberbash two more militants have been killed. Their identities are being established," he said.
Previous reports said that four militants were liquidated: three - in Makhachkala and one - in Izberbash. The counter-terrorism operation regime was introduced in two towns of the republic on Wednesday morning.
The counter-terrorism operation regime was introduced in Izberbash at 06:00 am, and in the Kirovsky district of Makhachkala - at 07:00 am. Security forces blocked in these cities two private homes where the militants were hiding.
TASS reported earlier with reference to a security source that the militants killed in Izberbash was preliminarily identified as the "leader of the local bandit group Khalimbekov." He is suspected of killing two highway patrol policemen on the outskirts of Izberbash in early August.
