MAKHACHKALA, August 11. /TASS/. A federal judge has been shot dead by unidentified attackers in Russia’s North Caucasian republic of Dagestan, a source in the local law enforcement agencies told TASS on Thursday.

"A federal judge was killed this night by unidentified persons in the Shamilsky district," the source said.

The republican interior ministry confirmed that a murder was committed in the Shamilsky district but did not specify who had been killed.

"A murder has recently been committed in the Shamilsky district. An investigation is underway," a spokesman for the ministry told TASS.
