SCO chief assigns importance to cooperation with UN

The SCO considers UN as leading international structure in maintaining global stability

BEIJING, July 20. /TASS/. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) assigns priority importance to cooperation with UN, SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov said on Wednesday.

"We support further strengthening UN’s central coordinating role in international relations. Cooperation between SCO and UN represents a wonderful example of cooperation between regional and universal organizations," Alimov said at the meeting with UN secretary general candidate Vesna Pusic.

He added that SCO considers UN as leading international structure in maintaining global stability.

SCO Secretariat told TASS that Pusic presented her program to Alimov at the meeting. She told him about progress in the election process and her priorities in case she is elected UN secretary general.

Vesna Pusic is a Croatian politician. She served as the country’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs in 2011-2016. At the beginning of 2016 she became Deputy Speaker of the Croatian parliament.
