MOSCOW, June 2 /TASS/. Billionaire Donald Trump who seeks to become the Republican Party’s nominee for the US presidential election is attractive to Americans who are tired of the current status quo in politics, Alexey Pushkov, the head of the Russian State Duma Committee for Foreign Affairs, said on Thursday.
"Despite his eccentric manner, Trump is bringing something new with him. The Clinton couple is the status quo. Many Americans have got tired of it. That is giving Trump a chance," the lawmaker wrote in Twitter.
Last Friday, Trump enlisted the support of a sufficient number of delegates (1,239 with a threshold of 1,237), which is necessary for becoming the party’s nominee. Trump’s election headquarters confirmed that information. The Republicans will officially nominate Trump as a presidential candidate at the party convention on July 18-21.
