Kiev forces occupy Donetsk region school — self-proclaimed republic spokesman

A battalion of Ukraine's armed forces rejected its deployment in field conditions

MOSCOW, May 26. /TASS/. Kiev-controlled forces have seized the building of a high school in a village they have occupied on territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, a DPR Defense Ministry spokesman told reporters on Tuesday.

"Ukrainian army unit commanders, seeking self-preservation, are trying to hide behind the civilian population," said representative Eduard Basurin.

"According to our intelligence, a battalion of Ukraine's armed forces rejected its deployment in field conditions and occupied a high school building in the village of Alexandro-Shultino on their own initiative," Basurin said, locating the incident in the republic's Konstantinovsky district.

Spokesman Basurin spoke to reporters on Monday of a hospital seized by a battalion of Ukrainian troops in the city of Dzerzhinsk. This followed reports that a mercenary unit had been deployed in a children's hospital there.
