Russian ambassador to Greece invites Greece’s new defense minister to visit Russia

ATHENS, February 3 /TASS/. Greece’s New Defense Minister Panos Kammenos who met Russian Ambassador to Athens Andrey Maslov on Tuesday was invited to pay a visit to Moscow, a Russian embassy source told TASS.

Apart from the Greek defense minister, Maslov also met two of his deputies to discuss the development of Russian-Greek military cooperation.

"The Greek side is considering the draft agreements prepared by Russia. The National Defense Ministry of Greece said that it was going to work on them," the embassy source went on to say.

Russian Ambassador Andrey Maslov and Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos discussed agreements signed between the defense ministries of Russia and Greece; a possibility of strategic cooperation and organization in 2016 of a cross Year of Greek-Russian Friendship, the press service of the Greek Defense Ministry said.

It confirmed that Kammenos had also met the US ambassador to Athens to discuss bilateral cooperation under NATO programs; further interaction in the field of the defense industry and reciprocal exchanges with army personnel training programs.
