MOSCOW, January 1. /TASS/. Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics plans to visit Russia’s capital Moscow on January 12, an informed diplomatic source told TASS on Thursday, noting that the Baltic state presides in the EU Council since January 1.

“A visit is planned on January 12,” the source said. He also confirmed that Rinkevics planned to have talks in Ukraine’s capital Kiev in the near future.

The republican foreign minister plans to visit Moscow and Kiev to learn their positions on the current situation in Ukraine, spokesman for Latvian Foreign Ministry Karlis Eihenbaums said earlier.

“This should not be forgotten that the European Union plans major domestic talks on Russia on January 19 that we should be ready for,” the diplomat said, noting that “before this debate Kiev’s vision and that of Moscow on events which happened in 2014 should be clarified.”.
