BEIRUT, January 06, 2:35 /ITAR-TASS/. Sheikh Ahmad al-Assi al-Jarba has been elected on Sunday as President of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (NCROF) for a second term, the television channel Al-Arabia reported.
The General Assembly of NCROF is currently in session in Istanbul. NCROF is a grouping of opposition abroad, which is supported by Western countries, Turkey, and the Arabs.
The question of the Coalition's participation in a Geneva-2 peace conference, which is scheduled for January 22-24 and is to be held in Switzerland, will be finally decided upon after all the other leading figures are elected on Monday. A joint delegation of the opposition is to be formed under NCROF auspices for talks with representatives of Syrian authorities.
