MOSCOW, December 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Talks on creating a development bank and a reserve currency pool within BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) are successful, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Thursday.

“Russia took an active part in informal structures of global government and contributed to strengthening BRICS,” the ministry said.

“In Durban on March 26-27 the summiteers revealed the commonness of positions on key global issues — the Syrian crisis, Iran’s nuclear program, the Middle East settlement and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Progress was achieved to work out a strategy on BRICS development,” the ministry said.

“Russia initiated preparations for a strategy on multilateral economic cooperation of the BRICS member-states,” the ministry said.
