Over 200 violations reported to police on election silence day in Ukraine

Most of violations were reported from the Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Donetsk and Odessa regions and from Kiev

KIEV, April 20. /TASS/. More than 200 various violations were reported to Ukrainian police on Saturday, the election silence day ahead of Sunday’s runoff presidential polls, Yaroslav Trakalo, a spokesman for Ukraine’s National Police, said on Saturday.

"As of 18:30, police received 201 reports about violations of the electoral process on the election silence day," he wrote on his Facebook account.

Most of violations were reported from the Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Donetsk and Odessa regions and from Kiev. "Violations are linked with illegal canvassing (139 reports), vote buying and breaches of the electoral process," he added.

In the first round of Ukraine’s presidential polls on March 31, the candidate from the Servant of the People party, Vladimir Zelensky, received 30.24% of the vote, while Poroshenko, who seeks a second term, came in second with 15.95%. The runoff is scheduled for April 21.
