YALTA /Republic of Crimea/, April 20. /TASS/. The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) should sue Ukraine for the damage it has made only after combat operations are over, DPR’s head, Denis Pushilin, said on Saturday.

"It is expedient to file lawsuits after the war is over when damage is calculated," he told journalists on the sidelines of the 5th Yalta International Economic Forum. In his words, a special commission is now working to record "all the crimes not only crimes against humanity, but also economic crimes."

A similar initiative - to sue Ukraine for damage done to Crimea - was advanced by the Russian authorities back in March. On March 15, at the first joint session of the Council of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house and Crimea’s State Council, or legislature, on the fifth anniversary of Crimea’s reunification with Russia, State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin suggested European parliamentary structures be used to oblige Ukraine compensate economic damage done to Crimea when it had been part of Ukraine. A special working group is calculating losses.
