Moldovan leader asks US for support on Transnistria issue

Dodon stressed the need for support with the aim to "find a political solution of the issue in accordance with the constitutional neutrality status and the territorial integrity" of Moldova

CHISINAU, April 19. /TASS/. Moldova is hopeful for the US’ support during the talks on the Transnistria issue, the republic’s president Igor Dodon stated on Friday during the meeting with the US delegation headed by member of the US House of Representatives David Price. The US is acting as a mediator during the negotiations.

"During the discussion on the Transnistria issue, I highlighted the need for support from the side of the US representatives to our country in the process of regulation of the Transnistria conflict and the continuation of negotiations in the 5+2 format, with the aim to find a political solution of the Transnistria issue in accordance with the constitutional neutrality status and the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova," Dodon wrote on his Facebook page.

Mediators from the OSCE, Russia, Ukraine and the EU are participating in the negotiations as well.
