Extra-departmental guard killed in New Moscow supermarket attack

A group of attackers tried to rob a Dixie store in the township of Rogovskoye

MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. All the men suspected of an attack on extra-departmental guards in a supermarket in one of Moscow's new neighborhoods, that left one guard dead and another injured on Thursday night, have been detained.

"The operatives of the Federal National Guard Troops Service (Rosgvardiya) and policemen have detained all the peope suspected of an assault on the crew of extra-departmental guards," he said. "All the weapons have been confiscated from them."

An Interior official told TASS earlier there were five attackers.

On Thursday night, a post of extra-departmental guard reporting to Rosgvardiya received a distress call on robbery in a supermarket of the Dixie retail chain located in Rogovskoye neighborhood in New Moscow.

A rapid response crew that arrived at the site did not find any robbers inside the store and began to check the territory around it. While searching through a half-dilapidated building of a former firefighting depot located nearby, they encountered a group of people, whom they ask to present IDs.

In response, the unknown men put up active resistance, shooting and killin a 30-year-old sergeant from a handgun of an unidentified type. One more guard received wounds.

The malefactors made a getaway from the scene with the weapons seized from the guards. Police enacted an amber alert plan across the Moscow region to track them down.
