Bailiffs arrest debtor’s cat in Russia’s Perm

The man paid his debt on the following day and brought the cat back home

PERM, May 6. /TASS/. Bailiffs in the Urals region of Perm have arrested a cat over his owner’s refusal to pay a debt of 120,000 rubles (some $1,800), the local branch of the Federal Bailiffs Service said on Friday.

"Bailiffs decided to arrest the pet who was estimated at 1,500 rubles ($23) to make the man pay his debt as soon as possible," the statement said.

Bailiffs could not arrest the property in the debtor’s apartment as it belonged to his relatives.

The man paid his debt on the following day and brought the cat back home.

"The cat named Archibald will stay with his owner who promised to fulfill his obligations in the future," the statement said.
