Minor worth a million: Ukrainian tax service finds nation’s youngest ‘millionaire’

Most millionaires in Ukraine are 45 years old or older, while only 188 of them are younger than 30

KIEV, May 7. /TASS/. A seven-year old boy has become the youngest millionaire in Ukraine in 2017, acting Chairman of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (SFS) Miroslav Prodan said on Monday.

"The youngest taxpayer, who received income of more than one million hryvnias ($38,500) last year is seven years old (from the city of Cherkassy), and the oldest one is 99 years old (from Kiev)," Prodan stated.

The SFS press service has not named the sources and amount of income of the juvenile millionaire.

According to the State Fiscal Service, in 2017, 4,063 taxpayers declared revenues amounting to more than one million hryvnias, which is 16% more than a year earlier. Most millionaires (2,270 people) are 45 years old or older, while only 188 of them are younger than 30.

Prodan also said that according to the tax returns processed by his agency in 2017, only one individual declared an income of more than one billion hryvnias (about $38.5 mln).

According to the SFS, almost 44% of the millionaires live in Kiev (1,816 people.) Another 299 millionaires are residents of the Kharkov region, 269 come from the Dnepropetrovsk region, and 275 reside in the Kiev region.
