UAE's cosmonaut program to include expreriments of both NASA and Roscosmos

MOSCOW, February 11. /TASS/. The scientific program of the first flight of an UAE cosmonaut to the International Space Station (ISS) will include experiments from both NASA and Russia's space agency Roscosmos, Roscosmos's executive director of manned programs Sergey Krikalev told TASS on Monday.

"Some experiments will be done here, for our program. Other experiments will be performed by the UAE cosmonaut on the US segment, for their program. There is no juxtaposition, as we are working on this together," Krikalev said.

He noted that it is too early to name speicfic shares of NASA's and Roscosmos's participation in the flight's scientific program, as "the program is still being developed."

In 2018 Roscosmos signed a contract with UAE's space center on training and organizing the first flight of the country's cosmonaut to ISS. The cosmonaut will spend around a week at ISS.

Roscosmos head Dmitry Rogozin said earlier that the Russian space agency and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center in Dubai have coordinated a program of flights of UAE's cosmonauts to ISS.
