Russian scientists to share results of Antarctic research with global community, says RAS

Russian Antarctic researchers will share their results with the international community

MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. Russian Antarctic researchers will share their results with the international community, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Alexander Sergeev told TASS.

"We know that in recent years Antarctica has been turning into a zone of international political and economic interests. A joint program initiated by the Russian government has been launched this year. Under the project, our academic vessels will head to Antarctica to conduct research and share scientific information with the international community. This has become a prerequisite for obtaining fishing permits from the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)," Sergeev explained.
