Japanese liner returns to Moscow's Domodedovo airport with unretracted landing gear

According to the airport's press service, the plane had to return shortly after takeoff due to faulty landing gear that failed to retract properly

MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. A Japanese passenger jet has had to return to Moscow’s airport of departure — Domodedovo — on Monday afternoon shortly after takeoff due to faulty landing gear that failed to retract properly.

The Domodedovo airport’s press-service told TASS JAL Flight 442 left the airport at 17:15 Moscow time (15:15 GMT) only to return when one of the landing gear’s doors failed to close.

"The plane landed successfully. Everything went well," the press-service said.

Earlier, an aviation source confirmed the incident to a TASS correspondent.

"The incident involving a Boeing-787 did take place," the source said, adding that no one was hurt.
