MOSCOW, January 21. /TASS/. The theme of the S-300 air defense rocket launchers has been and remains within the realm of bilateral relations with Iran, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a news conference in Moscow on Wednesday.
“Iran is our neighbour. We are developing close relations with it in trade, the economy, and the military-technical sphere, and also in areas that are outside the scope of UN Security Council sanctions. We interact on the Caspian, too,” Lavrov said.
“I have not heard any reports the theme of S-300 rocket launchers was discussed (during Russian defense minister’s latest visit to Iran — TASS), he said. “This is a theme of bilateral relations and it will be considered within the framework of these relations.”
“Iran is a major power having rich history. Without its participation any long-term solution of regional problems, including Syria and Iraq, will be just impossible. The sooner the other actors develop this awareness and begin to be guided by considerations of pragmatism, the more useful that will be for our common efforts for the sake of stability in that region,” Lavrov said.
