MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Over half a million Russians have notified the Federal Migration Service (FMS) of their double citizenship or foreign residence permit, the FMS press-service has said.
“At the moment a total of 553,115 citizens of Russia have notified the Federal Migration Service of their double citizenship, foreign residence permit or any other valid document confirming their right to permanent residence in another country,” the FMS said.
Failure to meet the deadline to file double citizenship notification is punishable with a fine of 500 to 1,000 roubles (12 to 25 US dollars).
Those who ignore the requirement should brace for a 200,000 rouble fine (5,000 dollars) or 400 hours of public work, the FMS said.
