Mourning ceremony to pay last respects to two men killed by sniper held in Simferopol

SIMFEROPOL, March 22, /ITAR-TASS/. A civil mourning ceremony was held in Simferopol on Saturday to pay last respects to the self-defence squad member and the Ukrainian serviceman who were shot dead by unidentified shooters on March 18.

The ceremony began on Saturday morning in the House of Officers in central Simferopol. Guards of honour stood near the coffins. Behind them were flags of Crimea, Russia and Ukraine with black ribbons. An orchestra played mourning music.

Together with relatives, Cossacks, policemen, Berkut members and members of Crimean self-defence squads gathered in the hall. Other Simferopol residents also came to pay last respects to the two men. Many brought flowers.

Unidentified persons opened fire at Kubanskaya Street in Simferopol on March 18. Crimean self-defence members and servicemen of a Ukrainian military unit based there came under the fire, which was opened from one point. Two people were killed, and two were wounded. A criminal case has been opened over the murder.
