Russia and China prepare meeting between prime ministers

MOSCOW, August 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and China are preparing a meeting between the prime ministers of the two countries, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after talks with Chinese State Council member Yang Jiechi on Thursday, August 15.

Yang said the prime ministers would meet later this year.

“A meeting of the prime ministers is being prepared. The leaders of our countries will meet on the sidelines of the G20 summit in St. Petersburg on September 5,” Lavrov said. “The work that was done over the past several months shows that the potential of our cooperation is basically inexhaustible.”

Yang said the prime ministers would meet later this year.

Lavrov also said that Russia and China would share a year of friendly youth exchanges. “We are developing humanitarian cooperation and preparing a new humanitarian project: a bilateral year of friendly youth exchanges will begin next year,” he said.

Yang noted that relations between the two countries “develop successfully and agreements turn into real cooperation.”
