Leader of paramilitary grouping rendered harmless in North Caucasus

No one of civilians or policeman was wounded

NALCHIK, January 20 (Itar-Tass) – Leader of a paramilitary grouping, who opened fire at policemen from a TT handgun during the effort to detain him, was rendered harmless Sunday in Nalchik, the administrative center of the North Caucasian region of Kabardino-Balkaria, the press service of the regional Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.

“The leader of the a paramilitary grouping that operated on the territory of the Urvansky district was detained in the Volny Aul district of Nalchik at 15:20 Sunday,” the report said.

“The man, 29, offered armed resistance to policemen and war neutralized harmless by a retaliatory action,” the ministry said.

According to the press service, the paramilitary leader was suspected of plotting a series of assassinations of law enforcement and government officials.

No one of civilians or policeman was wounded.

At the time of reporting, a group of operatives and investigators was working at the site of the incident.
