Russian–Jordanian cooperation to expand at SPIEF 2019

Ambassador of Jordan Amjad Odeh Adaileh expressed interest in participation in international economic events scheduled for 2018–2019 in Russia

TASS, July 23. Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Russian Federation Amjad Odeh Adaileh in Moscow. The current state of affairs in bilateral trade and economy and the formats of cooperation between the two countries at forums were discussed in detail, including the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019.

Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov expressed confidence that the Russian–Jordanian relations, which this year mark 55 years, will continue to progressively develop in all directions, and the traditionally established strong contacts will be further strengthened. He noted that since the beginning of this year there has been a more than two-fold increase in the volume of trade between the countries. Serious source of bilateral cooperation lies in humanitarian and religious ties between Russia and Jordan.

An impressive potential for the development of dialogue between our countries comes from the bilateral intergovernmental commission, which is scheduled to meet in September 2018 after a two-year pause.  Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev is an appointed co-chairman of the Commission.

Ambassador of Jordan Amjad Odeh Adaileh expressed interest in participation in international economic events scheduled for 2018–2019 in Russia. He noted that such cooperation would facilitate maintaining and developing dialogue between states and organizations. The Ambassador emphasized the importance of enhancing economic cooperation with EEU under the staged approach to the Cooperation Agreement signed in 2017 between ECE and Jordan with an eye to integration partnerships.

According to Anton Kobyakov, “Jordan’s active participation in the upcoming SPIEF 2019 will have a positive impact on the development of dialogue between our countries in many domains, mainly in economy and trade”. In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of Jordan’s future participation in SPIEF as a guest country. In 2018, France and Japan possessed this status, India in 2017, and Italy a year earlier. The guest country status enables a country to present the world with its economic and technological achievements, as well as share its cultural heritage.
