The largest international trade show IMEX 2018, a major expo for Event Management Industry and Incentive Tourism, will take place on 15–17 May 2018 in Frankfurt, Germany. Professionals from 150 countries of the world annually participate in the event. For the first time joint booth Russia Open to the Word, sponsored by the National Convention Bureau Association with the support of the Roscongress Foundation, will represent Russia at the IMEX.

Fourteen thousand representatives from 150 countries participate in the event annually. The presentation of the major international events of Russia, such as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the Russian Energy Week in Moscow, at IMEX Frankfurt 2018 is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate years of experience and potential of the Russian Federation in the Event Management Industry,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.
Russia Open to the World is the national stand of the Russian Federation, representing the event potential of Russian regions at specialized exhibitions and trade shows abroad. The National Convention Bureau with the support of the Roscongress Foundation will organize the presentation under a united brand for the second time, building on a rewarding experience gained at the IBTM World Expo in Barcelona in November 2017.
Representatives of the Roscongress Foundation will share the scope of their competencies and the services provided by the Foundation, including organization of congress and exhibition events in Russia and abroad, media support, promotion of business projects and setting up cultural and sports programme for an audience of potential corporate customers, non-profit organizations and industry associations, all as a part of the Russia Open to the World presentation.
In addition, major players of the Russian event management and corporate and incentive tourism industries will represent the country at the national stand. Of these, there will be representatives of national and regional companies – business events organizers, congress bureaus, hotel chains, resorts, exhibition and convention centres, PCO and DMC from Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, Krasnodar Krai, Sverdlovsk and Kaliningrad Regions.
The Roscongress Foundation is one of the founders of the National Convention Bureau Association, which was established in November 2017 with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation for the purpose of shaping and promoting a positive image of Russia as a favourable place for holding event of any level, attracting major international events. The National Convention Bureau not only serves as a marketing tool for promoting Russia as a tourist destination abroad, but also plays an important role in the development of the event industry in the Russian regions. The Association coordinates the development of the industry infrastructure and implements programs to support the industry of forums, educates Russian market participants, assists industry professional events in Russia, providing an opportunity for sharing best practices among professionals of the Russian event industry.
“One of the key objectives of Russia’s participation in international events is the presentation of the event potential of the regions of our country and their infrastructure opportunities to the global market players,” said Director of the National Convention Bureau Association Alexei Kalachev. “Having gathered Russian industry professionals at the national stand, we plan not only to clearly demonstrate the vast potential of Russia, but also to identify the prospects for cooperation with our foreign colleagues.”
The national stand will become an integrated business area built on the principles of openness and hospitality. Russian regions will present their event opportunities in the Presentations and Briefings Zone. One of the presentations will be devoted to the project of the World Expo 2025 in Yekaterinburg, and special attention will be given to the forthcoming FIFA World Cup 2018. Russia hosts this event for the first time.
Representatives of Russian business will be able to discuss cooperation potential with IMEX international participants in the Business Communication Zone. This format should allow industry professionals to organize a fruitful dialogue with potential foreign partners.
