MOSCOW, December 22. /TASS/. Russian-UK relations cannot be called satisfactory, but Moscow and London seek to find ways to overcome bilateral problems, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after talks with UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Friday.
"We agree that Russian-UK relations cannot be called satisfactory today. The problems that have accrued and their burden pulls us back, although in my opinion both sides want to find ways to overcome them," Lavrov said.
Constructive ties between Russia and the UK meet their national interests, Lavrov noted. At the meeting in Moscow, the sides discussed a number of particular steps for normalizing bilateral cooperation.
"Russia confirmed that we are ready to develop dialogue on the broadest range of issues based on the principles of equality, and taking into account and respecting mutual interests. We do not accept selectivity and imposing any conditions to solve issues that are on our agenda," Lavrov stressed.
Moscow and London have agreed to solve some issues and this will enable them to make "the activity of diplomatic institutions in the United Kingdom and Russia more comfortable," he noted.
