MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. Russian diplomats who have been declared persona non grata by the US authorities, will be delivered home by an aircraft from the Rossiya Special Flight Detachment, a source in the Russian Presidential Administrative Department said.
"An aircraft from the Rossiya Special Flight Detachment will be sent to the US to pick up the Russian diplomats and their family members," the source said.
On December 29, Washington slapped new sanctions on Moscow over the alleged hacking into US political institutions. These sanctions apply to several Russian companies, the Federal Security Service and the Main Intelligence Agency of Russia’s General Staff. Besides that, the US authorities expelled 35 Russian diplomats and shut down two Russian compounds, in New York and Maryland. The diplomats have been given 72 hours to leave the country.
According to Russian media, the diplomats may face difficulties in purchasing airline tickets as planes are full because of the holiday season.
