MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. The situation in Eastern Aleppo with a focus on the necessity of efficient humanitarian assistance to the population was in focus of a meeting between Russian president’s special envoy for the Middle East and African countries and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Syria’s Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad, the Russian foreign ministry said on Tuesday.
"The sides exchanged views on the development of the military political and humanitarian situation in Syria," the ministry said. "Special attention in the context of active anti-terrorist operations of the Syrian army was focused on the situation in Eastern Aleppo with an accent on the necessity of efficient humanitarian assistance to civilians."
"It was stressed that Russia remains committed to its principled position in support of Syria in its efforts against international terrorism and extremism and in support of efforts in the interests of the soonest political settlement of the Syrian crisis on the basis of the United Nations Security Council’s Resolution 2254," the ministry said.
The meeting was initiated by the Syrian side.
