Lavrov, Kerry discuss Syria, Ukraine and North Korea over the phone

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry discussed over the phone on Wednesday the situation in Syria, the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis and the work at the UN on the North Korean dossier. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the conversation was initiated by the American side.

"The two top diplomats exchanged views on the situation in Syria, cooperation in promoting the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis and the work at the UN on the North Korean dossier," the ministry said.

On October 3, the US Department of State accused Russia of derailing the September 9 agreements on the ceasefire in Syria. In connection with this, Washington announced the termination of contacts with Russia on this issue. Lavrov noted in light of this that the responsibility for the collapse of the truce in reality lies with the US, which refused to influence the opposition to persuade it to withdraw its units from Castello Road and was unable to separate terrorists from the moderate opposition. According to the Russian foreign minister, US administration officials advocating the military scenario in Syria are behind the failure of the agreements.
