Putin, Netanyahu discuss situation in Middle East

MOSCOW, September 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, in the course of which they discussed the Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement and the prospects for a resumption of dialogue between the Israeli government and the Palestinian National Authority, the Kremlin press service said.

"The sides continued an exchange of opinion on the current situation in the Middle East and took up the situation around the Palestinian-Israeli peace settlement, including the prospects for a resumption of direct dialogue between the two parties," the report said. "They (Putin and Netanyahu) agreed to continue contacts at various levels."

The conversation was held at Israel's request.
