Kremlin reacts calmly to Poroshenko's Putin-hysteria-fueled campaign

Earlier, Poroshenko’s election team confirmed that the posters showing the incumbent president and Putin were its official electioneering ads

ST. PETERSBURG, April 10. /TASS/. The Kremlin has responded calmly to the news Ukraine’s incumbent president, Pyotr Poroshenko, uses pictures showing him and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the election campaign, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

"We elect Putin. As for Ukrainians, we’ll see," he said.

Earlier, Poroshenko’s election team confirmed that the posters showing the incumbent president and Putin were its official electioneering ads and remarked that it did not feel obliged to coordinate this with the Russian leader. In its opinion the picture of the two presidents illustrates Poroshenko’s ability to boldly look the Russian leader in the eyes.

On Tuesday morning electioneering agents in Kiev’s metro were handing out dailies with a picture of Poroshenko and Putin looking at each other. The caption read: "Elect on April 21!" Similar posters appeared on the streets of Kiev and Kharkov.
