KAMAZ truck to be tested in Russia's Far North

Kamaz ranks among world’s 20 leading truck producers

KAZAN, March 29. /TASS/. A Kamaz-Arctic truck will be tested in the Far North’s conditions in 2018, the truck builder’s Deputy Chief Designer Evgeny Makarov said in Kazan on sidelines of the international forum TIAF, supported by Automechanika.

"We have assembled the first truck (Kamaz-Arctic - TASS), it is on trials now, and the project includes a few models, while as yet we have only one ready truck," he said. "The interest to this project is very vivid; we plan exploitation tests for this year, but not at the plant - the truck will be tested in the Far North’s conditions."

Depending on the test results, the producer will decide on further plans. "Everything will depend on the demand," he said. "I believe, we shall see demand for vehicles of the kind."

A Kamaz-Arctic truck on low-pressure tires was presented at the Vuzpromexpo 2017 show in Moscow. The vehicle can transport passengers and cargo across the Russian Arctic zone, Siberia and the Far East. The all-terrain vehicle has a comfortable apartment block for three people: a kitchen, sleeping places, a sanitary unit, an independent generator and a heater.

The Kamaz Group of Companies is among world’s 20 leading truck producers. It takes 51% of the Russian market of heavy vehicles.
