ARKHANGELSK, March 7. /TASS/. Volunteers, who will be working at the Arctic: Territory of Dialogue Forum, due in Arkhangelsk on March 29-30, will take a course in development of the Arctic, Elena Dotsenko of the Northern Arctic Federal University told TASS on Tuesday.
"We have agreed with Roscongress (the forum’s organizer) that the University’s leading experts will deliver a course in the Arctic’s development," she said.
More than 220 volunteers will be working during the Forum’s main program, and another 50 people will be involved in the additional programs. Volunteers will work in Arkhangelsk, Moscow, Severodvinsk, Novodvinsk and in the Primorsky district.
More than 460 people had passed the competition to become volunteers at the Forum. Now all of them will undergo necessary vaccination (unless medical contradictions) and then will take training courses. Most of the 270 volunteers are the University’s students and teachers. The first group will begin working already on March 20 - at accrediting and during events in the hall.
The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue Forum is a key international platform for discussing problems and future of the Arctic area at the global level. The forum is supported by the Russian government and its objective is to unite efforts of the international community for effective development of the Arctic and for higher living standards for the people living there.
The first forum took place in 2010 and was devoted to modern problems of the Arctic region. The second forum in 2011 focused on formation of the Arctic transport systems, and the event in 2013 touched upon environmental safety.
This year, the event’s key topic is "People and the Arctic." The forum’s organizer is the Roscongress Foundation.
