TEL AVIV, February 22. /TASS/. No specific timeline has been identified so far to resume the air traffic between Russia and Egypt but Cairo undertakes proactive measures to restore security, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov told TASS on Wednesday.
"No specific time frame," the official said. "Delegations of the Russian Transport Ministry surveyed airports" in Egypt, Syromolotov said. "Everything will be solved if life of our fellow citizens is guaranteed," the diplomat added.
"The return of our tourists [to Egypt] depends on the analysis of the situation [in air security sphere in Egypt - TASS] and whether it provides for security or not," the official said. "The decision should be taken by the Russian Government; the Foreign Ministry does not make such decisions," Syromolotov added.
Russia and Egypt have been holding talks on resuming air service since late 2015. The flights were suspended in the aftermath of the Russian A321 flight crash in the Sinai on October 31, 2015.
