Russia has no plans to give Belarus discount on gas yet — Russian energy minister

The price of Russian gas for Belarus currently stands at $132 for 1,000 cubic meters

MOSCOW, May 13. /TASS/. Russia so far has no plans to give Belarus discount on gas, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told journalists on Friday.

"So far we do not plan any discounts," he said.

According to the minister, the price of Russian gas for Belarus currently totals $132 for 1,000 cubic meters. The two countries are going to discuss the price for Russian natural gas next week.

"We will continue consultations with our Belarusian colleagues on this topic. Next week we will discuss the price of gas for Belarus together," he said.

Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik on Thursday said that Minsk considers $73 per 1,000 cubic meters a fair price for Russian gas.

In early April Belarusian Prime Minister Andrey Kobyakov said he considered $80 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas to be a reasonable price for Belarus.
