Belarus does not recognize debt to Gazprom for supplied natural gas — energy minister

According to the Russian energy minister, the Belarusian gas debt to Gazprom exceeds $125 mln for the 4 months of 2016

MOGILEV, May 12. /TASS/. Belarus has no debt to Gazprom for the natural gas supplied to the country, Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik said Thursday.

"Our payments are in line with the intergovernmental agreement," he said.

According to Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, the Belarusian gas debt to Gazprom exceeds $125 mln for the 4 months of 2016.

"The debt to Gazprom for contract supplies of gas is more than $125 mln for four months," Novak said.

Novak refused to say whether the issue of potential reduction of gas prices for Belarus will be raised at the council of ministers of the Union State later on Thursday. "I cannot speak for the Belarusian side," he said.
