RIGA, May 7. /TASS/. There will be no supplies of shale gas to Latvia from the United States in the nearest years due to technical impossibility to provide it, the Latvian Economy Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola said Thursday.
"It is impossible if we speak about nearest years. Currently, there is no infrastructure that would allow supplying gas from the United States. The US gas export terminals may only be launched in 2016-2018. So I do not see the US becoming a real gas supplier for us in the nearest future," she said in an interview with the Latvian radio.
She stressed the importance for the country of having alternative options on its gas market as currently the republic is dependent on Russia’s gas giant Gazprom.
