Xi Jinping: China will invest $250B in Latin America

Xi Jinping said China’s objective is to develop the trade turnover with CELAC countries to $500 billion by 2025

BEIJING, January 8. /TASS/. China will invest within a decade into Latin American countries about $250 billion, China’s President Xi Jinping said at the opening of the first ministerial meeting at the forum of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) on Thursday.

China’s economy within the coming ten years will keep “high and medium growth rates thus offering many opportunities worldwide, including countries of Latin America and the Caribbean,” he said, adding Beijing welcomes active participation of various companies in cooperation projects with CELAC countries.

Xi Jinping said China’s objective is to develop the trade turnover with CELAC countries to $500 billion by 2025.

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States was organised in 2011 in Venezuela’s capital city - Caracas. It unites 33 countries, including those from South America, the Caribbean and Mexico.
