KIEV, December 2. /TASS/. Ukrainian National Bank head Valeria Gontareva has submitted her resignation, Television 112.ua reported citing the Interior Ministry’s adviser Anton Gerashchenko.
He told this to protesters at a meeting on Tuesday. Among the demands of people who lost deposits was Gontareva’s resignation.
As was reported earlier this Tuesday, an official investigation was launched over a suit brought against Gontareva. A district court in Kiev on December 1 ruled to institute legal proceedings against the chief banker on charges of power abuse.
Lawyer Rostislav Kravets brought a suit against Gontareva, saying the chief banker had done damage to the state by manipulating with currency in August 2014 and lobbying interests of businessmen in violation of the law.
