ASTANA, May 29. /ITAR-TASS/. There will be an equal representation of Kazakh, Russian and Belarusian nationals in the leadership of the Eurasian Economic Commission (a regulatory body of the Customs Union between three fellow ex-Soviet republics and the Single Economic Space), the deputy head of the Kazakh National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, Rakhim Oshakbayev, told a news briefing on Thursday.

He said “there are more than 20 departments in the EEC, and as it is based in Moscow we see a certain disparity in mostly Russian nationals taking positions of department directors, unlike citizens of Kazakhstan or Belarus”.

However, “the text of the treaty on the setting up of the Eurasian Economic Union will directly envisage equal representation at the level of department directors or their deputies,” he added.

“For example, if a Kazakh national becomes director of a certain department, a Russian and a Kazakh national must be his deputies,” he said, adding that this will require more funding.
